Perhaps someone can look at a transcription/image for you. The 1901 decoder suggests the follwoing are together - some of the ages are a little out, so may not be 'your' family.

Cuthbert age 28 not with family?

William age 24 with 9 year old Susan

James and Leonard are together and it seems as if they are on the next page after another Thompson family with David as the head.

The only John of the right age (50) is married to Margaret and has the wrong children as well as being born Sunderland!

Hope it helps.

Sorry  :( I only have  the 1851 index and the 1891 transcription for South Shields - not even the right side of the Tyne!

hi pauline
where did Johns marriage take place, it might narrow it down as there are quite a few Andrew Thompsons on the 1861 index for Northumberland
