Hi there!
Is there a Robert George Collins listed in your book at all? He went to France in Sept 1915, he was a driver and his number was 60087, in the R.F.A. When he enlisted in 1909 in the 12th Battalion "The Rangers" he worked at the Gas Light & Coke Co and lived in Limehouse, Stepney. I don't know if any of that will be any use, but I've never even seen a picture of him before and he is my GGGrandfather. Thanks in advance  ;D

Hello

Sorry I missed your post and reply is late but no Collins is not mentioned.  There is only a Pte E Collins of the 1/4 Essex Regiment, Stoker at the Beckton works.  Was wounded at the Dardanelles on August 4th.

p.s. I now have an index of surnames so it is easier to look up now.

Hi Biker,
Just came across your posts re the Gas Light Co;  My great-grandfather, Wallenstein Marchant, worked for the company in 1911 in London.  Would you be so kind as to have yet another look in your book for me.  Really appreciate it if you can.
Thank you.

Hello

There is a Lnce-Corpl Marchant mentioned - there is no initial or first name noted.  He was with the York and Lancaster Regt, there is also a photo of him in uniform.

I wonder if this is the man you are looking for?

Hello Biker
Thank you so much for looking for me.  I can't say for sure as I'm not certain yet of his involvement in service.  I will try and find out some more.  The chap in the middle of my profile picture is Wallenstein's son, Wallenstein.  Sadly I haven't got any photographs of Wallenstein Snr. so I would only be able to go on likeness.  Also, the family lived in Lambeth.  I won't make you go to the trouble of scanning the photo unless I can be more certain.  May come back to you on that one.
Have a good weekend!  :)
