Hi.
I believe that the Dragoons are also known as the Hussar Regiments. I'm not sure if this is the case for all of the Dragoons. Check out this site and learn about some Hussar Regiments:

Until the Napoleonic era British cavalry consisted of "Heavy" Dragoons - big men mounted on large and powerful horses - the descendants of mediaeval knights. They were shock troops used to smash the flanks of infantry units so that their own infantry could advance. I think it was about 1808 that Wellington encouraged the formation of "light" dragoons, also known as Hussars. I think it may have been because heavy cavalry was hampered in Spanish hill terrain. To a  large extent these were scouts and skirmishers and also useful to prey on retreating enemy. Today the differnence would be between tanks and armoured cars.
I think all Dragoon and Hussar regiments were amalgamated during the WWII [but don't hold me to that].
