Hi, Are you looking for them in the 1841 census?
Have you got christian names?
Any idea where they were in 1841?

Hello Jennifer,

Thank you for replying to my e-mail,  I haven't got Edwin Reader in the 1841 census,  he was born in 1823 Pentonville, Clerkenwell, he was married to a Terresa Sainsbury born 1831.  you may find them under Reder/Read, its a possibility.

I also haven't got his father Joseph Reader and his wife Sussanah Harley in the 1841 census, Joseph was born 1795 Middlesex and Sussanah 1797 Strepney.

Neither have I got Richard Mees Sainsbury born  1788 Wilton by Salisbury, Wiltshire, his wifes name was a Mary Ann born 1792 Brighton Sussex.

If you can find these I will be very grateful.

Thank you for what ever help you can give me.  Thank you

I think found the Readers (but not Edwin, maybe living out?)

HO 107/660/6 42/28
St. James Clerkenwell
No. 6. Cobourg Street
Joseph Reader, 45, White Smith
Susannah, 40
George, 20
Henry, 15
Arthur, 5
Esther, 15
Rebecca, 10
(all b. in county)

Also, indexed as 'Saintbury' but looks like Sainsbury on the original to me:
HO 107/660/6 51/40
St. James Clerkenwell
9 Wingrove Place
Richard Sainsbury, 50, Watch Maker, b. out of county
Mary, 45, b. out of county
Jane, 20, b. in county
Theresa, 9, b. in county

There is a possibility for Edwin:
HO 107/665/6 58/17
St. Mary Islington
16 Upper Copenhagen Street
Edwin Reader, 15, watchmakers apprentice, born in county.
In the household of James Hislop, 40, Watch Manufacturer.

These two places (St. Mary I. and St. James C.) are both in Finsbury and with the match of the occupations between Edwin and his future father-in-law I'd say this was pretty likely (many of these ages have been rounded down).

Hello,

Thank you very much,  yes this is the right Joseph as he was a Whitesmith, Richard Sainsbury was a Watchmaker so this is correct, Edwin was a Watch Finisher so it could be him, I know in 1851 he was living in Middlesex, I pretty certain its him, there can't be many Edwin Reader's that are watchmakers apprentice.   I know later on edwin was still working with Watches and clocks and I also think that is how Edwin met his wife, through working with her father.

Thank you I am very grateful for you looking and for sending me this information.

All the best
