Frampton brick wall

Hi, I have traced my Frampton line back to Hannington in Wiltshire and a marriage of John Frampton and Mary Webb on 27 march 1782. However, this is the first record of any Framptons in the area. I have reason to believe that he may have come from the Hinton St Mary area of Dorset. Can anyone suggest what I can do to separate the birth/baptism of "my" John Frampton from any others I come across? The only thing I know about him is tht he was a carpenter and he must have been born somewhere between 1740 and 1755. Thanks, Jo
