Hi guys

Further to previous postings under this heading, I THINK I have now located the baptism of Thomas GRIFFITHS, hopefully my g-g-g-grandfather, in the parish of Clifford, Herefordshire, in February 1814 to a James and Ann GRIFFITHS. Having searched a good many years either side of 1814 in the parish register for Clifford, however, I have been unable to find any trace of any further events connected with this family. This leads me to suspect that they may have moved from and to the Welsh side of the border, as this is where most of the other family events detailed on the various censuses seem to have taken place. On the assumption that James and Ann may have been born, say, in the 1790s, they may still have been alive at the time of the 1841 census, and possibly even 1851. Is anyone able to find them on either one in the area around, say, Hay/Llanigon/Glasbury/Talgarth/Felindre?

Many thanks.

Thanks, Osprey, certainly some food for thought! Am off to Powys county archives this week to further research several branches of my family tree. Will hopefully find the time then to look further into the Griffithses.

Hi guys!

Sorry to be a pain, but further to the last few postings on this strand, I've now paid a further visit to the Herefordshire county archives and uncovered another possibility for the baptism of my g-g-g-grandfather, Thomas GRIFFITHS, this time in Cusop in January 1810 to a William and Mary GRIFFITHS. There also appear to be baptismal records in Cusop for siblings William, also in 1810 (!), John in 1811 and Mary in 1814. I am currently weighing up the possibilities of either of the Thomas Griffithses born in Clifford or Cusop being my ancestor, as both place names appear in later census returns, but is anyone able to locate either the parents or any of the siblings in the census returns for, say, Herefordshire, Breconshire or Radnorshire in 1841 or later?

Thanks again.
