Just found out my grandfather was William Chivers born somewhere in Scotland, must have married in Scotland and then went to Kenya.  William was an Accountant, probably married about 1920 and all their children were born in Kenya.

I suppose my query is was there advertisements offering a better life abroad which made him go.  Also if I do not know who he married how will I track down the right person?

There are only three marriage records on scotlandspeople for a William Chivers between 1900-1930.
His occupation will be on the record so worth a peek.
You may strike it lucky with your first selection.
