I'm researching my late husbands family who once lived around Whithorn

They were of Irish origin, possibly Mullingar

MY husbands Father James/Jimmy Rice was one of twins. his brother was Peter

Their mother was Maggie Millar. James begame a gamekeeper and moved to Stirlingshire. His brother emmigrated and there are members of this family in US

They came over during the Famine and lived in that area well into the C20

Some of the family went to USA
