Hi  I just came across you rootschat posting.  I have Carnegie /Chalmer  in my Carnegie family tree. Was your Catherine Carnegie any relation to David and Janet(Langlands) Carnegie?  They had a son James Chalmer Carnegie in 1882. I'll give the info that I have;
Alexander Carnegie (B) 1776  2nd marriage to Margaret (?) their children were:
David 1803,  James 1804,  Elizabeth (Betty)1806 Ann 1809, Mary 1816, Alexander 1820, (m) Jean/Jane Hebenton,  John 1826, Thomas (?)
At the moment I can't find the next generation, but it's here somewhere.  Then I have my GGrandfather who was
David Carnegie (b) 1854 married  Janet Keay Langlands (1877)Carnegie, their children  where"
Alexander Carnegie 1877, Peter McIver Carnegie 1880, James Chalmer Carnegie 1882, William Langlands Carnegie 1883,  David Christie Carnegie 1884, Margaret Ann Carnegie 1887, Andrew Carnegie 1890, Jean/Jane Jolly Hebenton Carnegie 1891, IsaBella Bruce Carnegie 1893 (my grandmother), Janet Elizabeth Carnegie(), John Nicoll Carnegie1898, Robert Carnegie1901
If you should happen to find a link , could you please let me know, I am so interested  in my Carnegie side of the family.    Thank you kindly  cdnscots

David and Janet (Kaey Langlands) Carnegie are my relatives as well - David is my great-great- grandfather.  His son James Chalmers Carnegie is my great-grandfather..he had Jessie Carnegie that was my grand-mother.
