Dear Rootschatters, Hi there.  Looking to fill in some gaps I have in my tree:-

I have Charles Robert JACKSON born 14 June 1842 at Stockport, Cheshire, England.  Parents' names unknown.

Charles emigrated to Australia as I have found a marriage record in 1865 in the State of Victoria, Australia, to Hannah DAVIS herself a native of Gloucester, England.

I'm rather hoping that with a common surname of JACKSON, a record of him can easily be found on the 1851 Census, so we're looking for a 9 year old child perhaps Cheshire.

Eager to find out if possible his parents' names and.or siblings, say maybe on 1851 Census.

All responses appreciated.  Thank you in anticipation.

Alison, QLD Australia.

Hi again,
IGi has a submission from LDS member- your Charles - father Robinson, mother Jane - so above fits with that one.

Dear Heywood, Hi there.  Yes I had been checking the International Genealogical Index at familysearch.org.  But I wanted to see if I could find out any more.  Although the IGI is fairly accurate, sometimes there are errors.

Looks like your information does fit ... thank you for that.  And I've seen the name 'Robinson' pop up in succeeding generations.

Q.Do any more children show up on the 1861 Census?

Hi Alison,

can't find them after 1851 - do you think the whole family emigrated?

Again - Family Search has details on Ancestral filr.
Robinson (according to that) did have a wife Ann (2nd marriage) by 1851 and died in Melbourne 1898.

Dear Heywood, Hi there.  After a frustrating wait to get into the familysearch.org website (it was down due to maintenance) I saw that the ROBINSON line went back to 1691 Boggle Hole, Brancepeth, Durham, England.  Goodness!  Where the heck is that if it still exists?

And yes it looks like the whole family emigrated to Australia.  Been busy looking at emigration records at the New South Wales State Records website ... none there; then I looked at the Public Records Office for Victoria ... not there either.

Shall eventually find them I guess after I look through all my favourite shipping record sites for Australia.  Mostly emigrants arrived in South Australia.

I'll close this thread now.

Thanks, Heywood for your assistance.
