How do they do that?

When I am posting a message with a link,  I know I can copy and paste the link in,  but how do I make the link appear to say something else rather than the http address.   

I have seen people do it,  I think it can be done in a message,  but how?

This is frustrating !

I can do it with normally but the RootsChat board isn't "straight" HTML

and How to use RootsChat would then come up as a link !

I've tried it with < > and [ ] but it still doesn't work !

Anybody know the secret ??

This is how I do it on another site but dont leave any spaces, I just did that so it would print the instruction rather than the link.

With the above example the only thing on the page would be the words 'my site'
