I have now looked a little more closely at the second tree and it clearly lists the wrong parents for John (odd, since they have his marriage entry which lists the right parents).

If you can confirm that your husband's father died in 1945, his parents were named on his death certificate. They were John Taylor and Ellen Brown who married in 1856 and died in 1896/1903 and were buried in Donully, Vic. (There are photos of William and Ellen on Ancestry).

John's death certificate names hi parents (Robert Taylor and Jane brown) so you can be fairly confident about his birth in Falkirk.

I've sent you a Personal Message with more information. the link with ships has been established, but no great legacy I think (Robert's father was a road surface man).
