I am looking for my ancestors Dennis Sheahan and Eliza (Goodwin) who had three children Eliza, Edward and Joseph who were born in Shanagolden Limerick Ireland between 1828 and 1832. They came to Australia in 1848. Dennis was a land surveyor. Could any one help please

Happy St Patrick's Day tysson,

What denomination were Dennis and Eliza?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

You will probably have more luck getting information in Australia than Ireland. Australian death and marriage certificates contain much more detail than Irish ones (and civil registration is Ireland started too late for the family you are trying to trace).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hello.

I don't know whether you are still interested, but I have information on the family of Eliza Goodwin, who married Dennis Sheahan.
