1901 Census Belfast GILLILAND
« on: Friday 29 October 04 18:03 BST (UK) »
Could someone please look up William John Gilliland and Sarah Gilliland (his daughter aged about 3).

Sarah is my grandmother and she married at St. Annes, Belfast in 1924. At that time they were living in Crossland Street  I don't know anything else about the Gilliland family.

Many thanks
Haynes - Bolton Lancashire,
Gilliland - Belfast N.I.,
Chapman - Liverpool,
Whitty - Dublin and Liverpool,
Ford - Lverpool and Chester

Hi Alan if you go to Belfast Families-1901 Census they do a free search, if they find anything you can get a copy of the Census at a small cost.

                          Good luck

Hi scotmum,
Many thanks for the information. This is the correct family as 7 Crossland Street is shown on my grandmothers wedding certificate.
I notice that she is not listed - she declared her age as 27 in 1924.
I will see if I can get a copy of the census return for my records. :)

No problem, Alan.

If you go to:

http://www.proni.gov.uk/ulstercovenantsearch/index.asp

and type in only the address, it will bring up the list I have given you. It is then possible to click on the 'png' option adjacent to each name to view a copy of the actual signature of the person.

At about 15, your Gran was probably too young to sign the declaration. It was in 1912 and not connected to the 1901 census.
