McKinnon / McClure
« on: Sunday 30 July 06 21:32 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am seeking information on Hugh McKinnon born circa 1854 in Ayr to parents William McKinnon and Jane McClure. Another son Thomas born 06 Oct 1856 in St. Quivox And Newton, Ayr, so possibly that would be where Hugh was also born.
Also seeking the marraige details of the parents William and Jane.
Any help, greatly appreciated.

Hi Gill, I've just joined rootschat and I notice you have a question about Hugh McKinnon and Jane McClure. I am also descended from that line of the family through their son Hugh (b 1879 d. I think 1942) then James C. McKinnon (my grandfather killed at Dunkirk) then through my mother,,,,,

I would be ever so grateful if you could share with me the line of the tree as I know very little because my mother died over 20 years ago and my grandfather died when my mother was only 5 years old...

I have also traced my tree back to Hugh McKinnon and Jane McClure but know very little.

I hope you don't mind helping me. I will gladly share any info I have.

Best regards,
Gord

Hi Gord, Its been so many years since I worked on the family tree.
You say your grandfather James C McKinnon died at Dunkirk. My hubbys gran, Elizabeth McKinnon,  spoke of her brother Con who died at Dunkirk. Would I be correct to assume C is for Constantine? Ive never really been able to find out much of Con.
I don't have all the information to hand, but will look it out for you. Elsie (Elizabeth) was the last surviving sibling and died 2 years ago, just shy of her 103rd birthday

Hi Gill, as I am new to this web site I have been trying to send you a reply to you message to me but i just can not find out how to do so. I have tried to download the chat toolbar but my web browser will not download it as it is saying it is corrupted.

Yes I am  a descendant of James Constantine McKinnon, in fact there are quite a few descended from his branch. i will try to send all the details in a  PM to you. I will keep trying until I manage it. Have you any tips on how to reply to your PM.

Hi Jack,
Not sure of Irish connections on the McClure side, but certainly connections with Girvan, Ayrshire. Will look later tonight and get back to you.

Hi Pam,
Sadly Gord passed away recently.
I have had correspondence with yourself many years ago. I’m sure I already gave you a lot of family tree information.
