Surname : BRENNET
« on: Friday 04 August 06 12:12 BST (UK) »
Greetings.
First my straightforward question : Does this surname exist in Britain today?

As far as I could trace my ancestors (16th century), the origin is Belgian,
from the city of Fleurus and surroundings.

http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/r/e/Georges-Brennet-1/

Nevertheless, the surname pops up in Berkshire (among others), when researching
on line. Could this be a census misreading of the more British "BENNET"?
I did not find the name in the dictionary of British surnames...

Any help or pointing into the right direction would be helpful.

Thanks
Georges Brennet

Bill
Many thanks for your lightning reply.
It looks like the surname has a rather limited occurance,
and only in continental Europe,
despite the "English" sound of it...
Best regards
Georges

If you google search the name- you gets loads of stuff about a singer called Namoli Brennet who seems to come from Tucson Arizona.

None on the UK electoral roll infodisk of 2003 either.

Hi Carol
I recieved a reply from Namoli Brennet long time ago.
This is only her stage name, not her real one.

I do have some U.S. census images though with the surname
quite clearly written, so I will have to focus on that, I.S.O.
Great Britain.

Thanks for posting.
