Dear May,

The Henson name looks like it originates from Nottinghashire by the 1881 Cenus, showing over 570 people. It is then highley concentrated through leiiceshire 306 and Northampsonshire 354.

Huntingdonshire shows 65.

Hannah HENSON (dau of Henry HENSON & Sarah SKILLINGTON), born 1826, in Hickling, Notts, married Thomas EDGSON of Long Clawson, Leics, in 1851.

See my EDGSON ancestry on my website

There are several Henson's in the 1881 Census.

3 are resident in Orton Longville with Thomas born there in 1819.

I'm also looking to unravel a Henson mystery .... Elizabeth Henson married William Church.

She appears in 1891 (age 24 b. Godmanchester, Hunts) with widowed mother Sarah (57 b. Holton? Hunts) (nee Sarah Ann Harrop?).

In 1881 Elizabeth is in the Union workhouse Peterborough with William & Susan. Can't find Sarah.

Can't find any of them in 1871.

Anyone help?

Hi May,
I was interested in your post about the Henson family.
Are these the same Henson's who were married into the NUTT family of Peterborough?I used to know a William Henson who married an Evelyn MOWBRAY .They lived at one time in London Road ,Peterborough .When I knew him they had moved to Alwalton. He died in 1991 aged about 90.

Hello May,

I do not know if this little piece of information will help, but on my husbands side of the family we have gone back to G.G.G.G. Grand father "Thomas Henson". His wife was Ann (Ringrose? we think).
They had a son "Thomas" who married "Alice" (last name unknown). I haven't got all their children but some of them  were born in Naseby, Northampton. They could of had a "Thomas" as I have plenty of gaps.

I hope the information help you.

Kind Regards

Children

Naseby is 32 miles away according to Parloc.  I have all my Hensons in Orton Longueville going back to 1780.  Are yours before this??
Best wishes

May

Hi May

Yes my Henson are before 1780. So far I have gone back to 1768 where THOMAS HENSON married ANN RINGROSE.

I dont think our line is connected, but you never know.
I will keep on hunting.

Cheers

Wendy

Hi Oleg

I have found

William CHURCH married
Elizabeth HENSON
in 1893 in Peterborough
June Quarter 3b 516

.... also ......

Thomas HENSON married
Martha PAWLEY
in 1893 in Peterborough
June Quarter 3b 536

which looks like Elizabeth's marriage, and if she had a brother called Thomas, it looks as though brother & sister were married at the same time.

So, if you're satisfied that this is your Elizabeth, you can order her/their certificate(s) on

www.1837online.com

quoting the infomation above

it will cost you £7.00 and take about 3/6 days

Happy hunting !!
