Generation no. 1. John Nicolson was born bet. 1815 - 1820 occupation: farmer. He married Elizabeth Wright 01 jul 1842 in Walls and Flotta.  She was born bet. 1815 - 1820. Children of John Nicolson and Elizabeth Wright are: James, b. 22 Sep 1844, Hoy and Graemsay; Jannet, b. 09 may 1850, walls and Flotta, Orkney; James, b. 16 jul 1843; Christina Straitton, b. 15 oct 1846 and Andrew, b. 04 dec 1851.

Generation no. 2. James Nicolson was born 22 Sep 1844 in Hoy and Graemsay.  He married Mary Ann Mowat 08 Nov 1866 in Hoy and Graemsay Orkney, daughter of Sinclair Mowat and Barbara Sinclair.  She was born Abt. 1841 in Hoy and Graemsay, and died 13 jun 1919 in Hoy and Graemsay age 78.Children of James Nicolson and Mary Mowat Are:

Generation no. 3 John Andrew Nicolson Was Born 15 Aug 1875 In Hoy and Graemsay, Orkney, And Died 27 Oct 1927 In Dumfries Infirmary Age 51 occupation: Tailor. He Married Sarah Thomson Hair 26 Sep 1902 In Wigtown, Daughter Of Samual Hair And Susan Bradshaw.

   8.  John3 Mowat (William2, Andrew1) was born 17 June 1830 in Hoy c 18/7/1830, and died 4 April 1878 in Stromness Gravestone A519.  He married (1) Betsy ?.  She was born 1835.  He married (2) Margaret Ritch 18 January 1872 in Hoy and Graemsay, daughter of Edward Ritch and Stewart Ritch.  She was born 28 November 1831 in Rackwick, Hoy c 3/12/1831, and died 1890 in Stromness.

   9.  Ann3 Mowat (William2, Andrew1) was born 5 February 1836 in Hoy c 13-2-1836, and died 1912.  She married William Sinclair 24 October 1861 in Manse of Hoy, son of James Sinclair and Mary Ritch.  He was born 7 August 1831 in Muckle House, Hoy, and died 1903.

   10.  Cicilia3 Mowat (William2, Andrew1) was born 20 September 1825 in c 15-11-1825 Hoy, and died in Canada ?.  She married (1) John Mowat 9 January 1851 in Hoy.  He was born Abt. 1821 in Hoy.  She married (2) Henry Robson Berston 21 January 1869 in Hoy, son of Peter Berston and Isabella Robson.  He was born 4 January 1835 in c 8-1-1835 Longhope, Walls and Flotta.

I have checked both her marriages.
emigrated to Canada 1883 with daughter Catherine and her husband James Thomson, If this is correct she left her second husband at "Murra" in Hoy a Retired Farmer with HIS daughter Georgina and his son in law Sinclair Manson. At the 1891 census he is recorded as a Widower.

   20.  Mary Ann Davidson Logie3 Mowat (Sinclair2, Andrew1) was born 21 June 1841 in Hoy and Graemsay c 18-7.  She married James Nicolson 8 November 1866 in Hoy, son of Hugh Nicolson and Isabella Campbell.  He was born 13 April 1833.
