Hi Stasia

The name is in my family also.  I am told that I have connections with Ryan and Dooley, my family name is O'Grady.  The Ryan and Dooleys I am connected with are from Laois and Tipperary, but how we are connected I dont know for sure yet.  My grandmother was Stasia, by aunt and I also have a cousin with the same name.  I have found although it is an unusual name in looking through census pages have found it to be quite a popular name during the early 1800's.  Will keep you in mind as I the search goes on !  best of luck

Hello Carol

Pleased to meet you. Thank you for your reply I also had an Aunt Stasia (my mothers sister) and i believe 2 cousins in the USA called Stasia but i have never had any contact with them. As names are passed down and around in Irish families i would take a guess that we have a connection - I'll keep looking.
Kind Regards
Stasia

Just browsing through the archives and found this old thread.

I have an Aunt (my Mother's sister) who was married to a Patrick (Paddy) O'Grady from Ballaghmore.  She still lives on the family farm with one of her sons. She would now be in her mid-80's, her maiden name was Maureen Seymour, from Cloncully, which is about 3 miles from Ballaghmore.   The Seymour family were also related to "Dooleys".

My Mother also had an Aunt Stasia, who lived in the U.S.!!!

Well whaddayaknow ... like Stasia, my great great grandmother was Eleanor Dooley, and my great great grandfather was John Ryan.  They were married in Kill, Co Waterford, a bit further away from Tipperary.  They were married in 1860, and a few years thereafter moved to England, ending up in Greenock, Scotland.  He had as occupation Copper miner.

Any leads or any bells??

All info GREATLY appreciated, as I am facing a brick wall here in trying to trace them :)

I have just found out that my Grandfather was born in Borris in Ossory.  Now...I was always told that he was born in Tipperary and recently a cousin says he was born in Co Laois.  This probably sounds dim, but where is Borris in Ossory - Tipp. or Laois ?  This is something I have just started as I have been concentrating on other branches in Clare.  My Grandfather was James O'Grady and there are family connections to the names Dooley of Roscrea and Ryan.  Any tips on the town would be gratefully received !!!!  help !

Carol
Borris in ossory is a parish in Laois on the border with Tipperary  .it has not been part of Aghaboe parish since the 1850s.

Hi JJ

Thanks for information on the parish.  Recently on the 1901 census I found a family in which the son Patrick is the right age.  The address is Ossory, Roscrea, house No 7 Cloonagh.  Im wondering if this could be the right family.

Hi to everyone in this thread ....its been some time !

On the eve of the anniversary of my Dads passing I realise that I have not made enough effort in my research of his family. We all seem to have a connection and just wondered if I posted it coud re-awaken our iterests and see if any other information has come to light since our last postings. I did find out from my Grandfathers marriage certificate that his Dads name was Patrick O'Grady/Grady and he was a farmer. I am at the moment going through my notes and will post anything else I come across later tonight. Hope your all still around as I really would love to move on a little further with this .  Happy New Year  ;)
