Just found another 10 images for Keymer in 1841 - Richard is on this but I expect you have him in 1841 and 1851 ???

I'll have a quick(I hope) look through the other 9 pages

This is sensational work Tricia. I think I'll need to start a special website dedicated to your work!!

I have all the 1841 census EDE's for Keymer but nothing for 1851. Peter and family had left in 1843 for the States but there were the following EDE's  in Keymer then

Mary Ede, 29
Henry Ede, 10
Mary Ede, 8
Eliza Ede, 6
Lucy Ede, 4
Anna Ede, 2
Ann Ede, 2 months
Reginald LONGLEY, 25, lab
William LONGLEY, 25, lab
Thomas LONGLEY, 17, lab
Mary EDE, 20

All born in county
------------

1111/11/15

Edward EDE, 70, Ag lab, born in county
Elizabeth DAVIS, 60, FS, born out of county
England -(Wilt Chute) Jennings (Cam) Howard Hart (Sur) Ede
(Dev) Selley (Lon) Burgess (Lincs) Freeman Kingswood

There is a 15 year old Sarah Ede on the 1841 census living in Keymer in the household of Phillia Mitchell and other assorted people. This can't be your Dorking Sarah as the age is incorrect and she is recorded as born in Surrey.

The Mary EDE aged 29 in Keymer looks like a widow or her husband is elsewhere. Quite a few men were conscripted for India around that time.

I'm not even certain these Keymer EDE's are linked to my Dorking EDE's but seeing Richard was there there is a half chance on a relationship somewhere down the line.

As always Tricia your work is excellent and very much appreciated. You've managed to revive my interest to do some work after weeks of incessant heat.

Many many thanks
Kind regards

Hope you can sort this lot out.

I'll just stick to the Dorking lot in 1851 for the moment otherwise I will lose the plot I haven't really got ::)

Can't postively identify James Ede born 1782 because I can't find a Dorking connection.

The nearest I can see in 1841 is a James Ede age 65 born Surrey  residing in the Epsom Union Workhouse. This guy dies in Epsom qrt ending March 1843. As the 1841 doesn't give any other useful information I can't tell if he is your man.  Dorking is quite near Epsom.

I was thinking there must be a connection somewhere because of Richard.

Incessant Heat?

I've just returned from the South West Atlantic Coast and didn't notice much in the way of heat ;D ;D I think the weather changed when we arrived :-\

I had two James born to Thomas and Ann EDE Sen.

One in 1777 and another in 1787. It may not be the same Thomas and Ann and maybe it is the first one that survived. That would tie up with your information although like so many families there are the same names repeating in every branch of a family.

William is most certainly correct, and Thomas and Ann are probably the other brother, not the parents who must have been dead some years.

In 1881 there is a Peter EDE in Dorking with a son Richard that may be an indicator that the Keymer and Dorking Edes were linked.

If anything it's 1851 that will show the places of birth and confirm or annul the contact.

I am delighted with your achievements and how there are other EDE researchers who will be able to benefit from your hard work

Kind regards
