I am researching the Moore family from Carlton / Mapperley and have found in the 1881 census that Isaac Bird (b 24/2/1847 married Sarah ? and had 5 children all born after 1860.  Can you discover where they were before 1860?   Isaac was probably from Tewkesbury but Sarah was definitely from Carlton.

Can I clarify a couple of things before I start looking through my archives

Can I assume that as you are looking for the Moore family from Carlton - that Sarah's maiden name is Moore

Isaac and Sarah had 5 children all born after 1860, but as Isaac was born in 1847; he would only have been 13 years old in 1860.
What is the birth date of that first child??

25.10.1848 Hucknal St Marys, John Harvey, Parents Samuel and Elizabeth.
To Parents of the same name, 23.4.1851, Samuel at the same location.
There is also a marriage at the same church which may be relevant, 8.6.1843 Samuel Harvey/Elizabeth Beeson

Hi Chris,

Noticed your kind offer of look-ups from your records and wondered if you could help me.  I've not got too much to go on I'm afraid.

I'm looking for details of SAMUEL CURZON, born c. 1835 in Nottingham.  I have him on the 1881 census with his wife Susan (born c.1841 Newark) and three children Emily, Matthew and Mary.  The oldest child was born c. 1875.  He has disappeared on the 1891 census although Susan is still calling herself a wife and not a widow.

Samuel possibly has a brother named LEONARD CURZON (born c.1831 Nottingham) as in 1891 his daughter Mary is living with Leonard in Rotherham and relationship is given as uncle/neice.

Samuel is a hawker and Leonard a rag and bone gatherer so the family is probably thoroughly disreputable.  

I don't know how common the surname CURZON is in the Notts area, but if you could find Samuel on the 1841 or 1851 census, or in your marriage index, I would be very grateful.  Since found on 1841 census and a reference to a marriage in 1856.

Please could you search the 1841 Census for: William Harvey (Joiner).  His son Samuel was married in 1843 in Hucknall Tockard (which you very kindly provided information about earlier)

Family John Thornhill,  wife Sarah etc. Exact address not known.

Sorry, but only have the 1851 census transcription for the City of Nottingham.

Did put the name Thornhill in the 1841 for the county, but it did not find any matches

John Thornhill, 25 Yrs, Ag Lab, Sarah, 30, John 6, Ann 4, Jane 3, William 1.  All born Notts except Sarah.

There are at least two other Thornhill families on adjacent folios and at South Side if you need those.
