1752 Funeral
« on: Monday 21 August 06 22:59 BST (UK) »
I have a 1752 will in which the Widow concerned declares that

My Mind and Will is that my Body may be conveyed to the place of Internment in a Hearse drawn by four horses and attended with one Mourning Coach and four horses.

Does anyone know how average or how far from the norm such a funeral might have been at that time? Or what status it implies? The family was fairly wealthy so might she actually be requesting a simple funeral without too much pomp.
