Sykes family
« on: Sunday 15 February 04 19:27 GMT (UK) »
I,m looking for any information about my family called Sykes.
Joshua Sykes, Martha Sykes nee Barker. Children-Elizabeth,
born Apr.3 1839, George born 1840 and possibly Fred Sykes
who married Jane Ann Shaw. Fred Sykes had  4 children Emily,  Ann Elizabeth,  Herbert James and Gertrude Barker. In the 1881 census Fred Sykes lived at 24 & 26 Chapel Hill in Huddersfield The Barker family lived at Chapel Hill 22. Fred Sykes was my greatgrandfather and his daughter Ann Elizabeth my grandmother. Ann E.married Henry Rodwell and moved to Canada around 1905. Keeping my fingers crossed, maybe somebody out there can help me.
Grandma.

Hi grandma

You state that your grandmother Ann Elizabeth married a Henry Rodwell.

I entered the details of Henry, about the same age as Ann Elizabeth, possibly living in Huddersfield – it came back with zilch!
So I entered just plain Henry Rodwell and it came back with 41 of them – do you have any further details of Henry so that I can narrow it down for you.

I also entered the name Joshua Sykes and it came back with 31 of them – but non of them are old enough to be the father of Fred.

Grandma,
If you can hold on a week (or two) I can lookup the 1841 and 1851 census for the kids. There are a lot of Sykes around, but we should be able to find the family with three kids to work on.

Send a private message if you have anything else to go on.

Pauline
