1861 Census Jersey - Wells
« on: Wednesday 03 November 04 20:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to find the name of my gggfather. He was married to Elizabeth and they had lived on and had several children on Guernsey, Alderney and Jersey where I suspect they were living when he died. his wife and children were all still on the island in 1871. RG10/5760,Jersey,Sub Reg District F, folio 51,Page13, Household sched 66.

Any info on this illusive man much appreciated.

Len,
I have checked out this entry as as you are probably aware Elizabeth is noted as head of house along with several children, no mention of husband

If you can give me any other information  which might help I will continue to look for you.

Good Luck

Len ,
Another thought  do you have Elizabeths maiden name  ? perhaps you could try and obtain a birth cert for one of the children if you know their date of birth this will give fathers name.

Hi there, sorry for delay in replying but I've been away for a few days.
All I can assume from the info that I have is that in 1861 the family would have been living on Alderney with 4/5 children depending on the date of birth of Elizabeth who was born in that year. The other children would have been Kate  8,Charles (My ggrandfather)6,Joseph 4,Thomas 2. I have not as yet applied for any copy birth certs to ascertain my gggrandmother  maiden name presumably I would have to apply to Jersey for a copy of one of her children's cert?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give
