Hi I am currently researching my Moss Family I have found David Moss/Maass married to Margaret Johnston possible father to a John Emil Moss/Maass Married to Rose Matilda James, John and Rose are the parents of my grandfather William Stanley Moss. I have as follows:

John Mass born 1861 father David mother Margaret Johnston at Kingower

Maass  Wm Stanley  Birth  Father: Jno Emil  Mother Rose Matilda James  Born  Elmore Vic William Stanley Death: Father: John moss mother:Rose Matilda

Trying to find where this family came from and when they arrived in Australia This Family lived in Victoria but seemed to move around
any suggestions or help would be much appreciated

Hi Raels,   a search of Prov unassisted passenger lists came up with only 1 David Moss coming to Australia age 19 in 1857 aboard the Ship  Sarah M

Not sure if this helps of confuses the issue

You will already know most of the dates associated with William Stanley from your other searches and perhaps you also have the 2 service records digitised on NAA.
I do note however on his ww1 history that his motherRose, is NOK and is living at an address shown therein.
This suggests that John Emil, the father, was dead even though William is only 18 or so.
His death cert. would help you to confirm the link between the DAVID MOSS and Margaret where you have a doubt.
There is a nice letter in William's hand asking for copy of his discharge papers to qualify for Soldier Settlement scheme.Your other search thread on Cousin connect confirms that you know of his marriages etc.
