Its a joy to find new family and friends

The McCance Family
« on: Wednesday 04 October 06 09:45 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

I have just started looking at the McCance side of my family tree, and would appreciate if anyone else is also interested in them.

My G/G/G/Grandfather was Robert Milan McCance and he was born at Grey Abbey, County Down, Northern Ireland in 1847 to John McCance and Agnes Mcleod.

The information I have goes no further back than this generation.  Any ideas, information anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated.

Many of the generations after Robert moved to Australia, where sadly, there is not many left.

Warmest Wishes to All

LDS site lists 5 children for John & Agnes: Martha (1844), Robert (1846), William (1848), Agnes (1851-1896 Australia), Edward (1854 Australia). Although they are submitted, not extracted, records and must be viewed with caution, they seem to point to whole family going to Australia in 1850s. If John and Agnes did die in Australia their death certificates might list their parents and other important details.

Hello tigerbelle,

Have you looked at the "McCants (McCance?) name origin" thread on Genforum?

It refers to a James McCance - farmer at Kilnatierney, Greyabbey. Born 1794
