Northampton General Infirmary records 1901
« on: Thursday 05 October 06 20:56 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have been unable to find the death of my greatgrandfather George Knight in the indexes, have looked until my eyes are nearly popping out of my head  ::)  He was born 1850 Welford and was a bricklayer/builder.

I have him on all census including 1891 when he and family had moved to Aston, Warwickshire.  In the 1901 census his wife Fanny Louisa is enumerated as a widow living Aston.  However in 1901 there is a George Knight a patient in Northampton General Infirmary aged 51, married, bricklayer, born Welford - everything fits!

Presumably the census all over England was taken on the same night, was Fanny foreseeing his death by saying she was a widow  :o or is this another George Knight  ???

Are the hospital records for 1901 open for viewing?

Hi Samantha zoe, welcome to RootsChat  :)

That would be very kind of you, and if you are able to find any information a mystery could be solved.

What a shame that part of the Guilhall was burnt down.

Regards

Hi Susan:

It's been a long time since your original post, so you may have already found the following:

You can find George on the 1911 census in Hartlepool living with his son Percy.  Percy's daughter Olive Jane was my grandmother.

George died in 1917 in Hartlepool and his wife Fanny (Frances Louisa Ingham) died in 1905 in Hartlepool.

Cheers, Lita
