Trawled along Commercial Road in the 1841 census - found some of Wm Beechenor's neighbours from Piggot's 1836 directory, but no Beetchenows - butchers.

Bryant - found my Charles BEETCHENOW on the 1841 census - with help of course.

BEETCHENOW was transcribed as BUTCHLNOW

It is only Martha, my ggg grandmother, with children, William, Thomas, Charles, George and Louisa.  Wonder where William my ggg grandfather was - he was alive in 1841.

Now to find them in 1851.

William was still alive in 1841 and the Martha marriage is more than likely their daughter.

Hello cando

fell foul of the moderator have we  ;D .........simple rule use it and abuse it (make it your own work)..........

1841
ALLEN STREET, ST JAMES CLERKENWELL, FINSBURY, MIDDX
MARTHA BEETCHLNOW 40                       Y (BORN IN COUNTY)
WILLIAM           "           20                      Y
THOMAS            "           15                      Y
CHARLES           "           13                      Y
GEORGE             "           10                      Y
LUEISA               "           10                     N (NOT BORN IN MIDDX)
---------------------
*1841 rule on age applied ie 10-14=10, 15-19=15, 20-24=20, 40-44=40 etc the only thing that is odd is Charles is definitely down as 13!

Lueisa aged 10 (one imagines she would be nearer 10 than George because of the pecking order) wasn't born in Middlesex.............so they were somewhere else in 1831
..................or Louisa isn't their child?

Cracked the 1841.......perhaps this one should come next?

Have you been there and done it?.............

If you haven't been to the emigration section it's about time you did! a lot of good people with the know how that might lead to you finding out when Charles arrived in Oz..........

Yes Bryant - the moderators on the different pages obviously have different interpretations of copyright - not a problem ;D

I know that Charles arrived in Aus 1851 or 52 according to time in Aus on his death certificate.  There is no record of him arriving in Aus.  Have had lots of help here in Aus with searches etc.

Thank you so much for you wonderful help and interest.

Cheers
