Did he move to Canada????
« on: Sunday 08 October 06 11:46 BST (UK) »
I have a Joseph M Ogle born 1858 Newcastle upon tyne on the 1861 census aged 3.  I cant find him in 1871 and in 1881 the only one I can find that fits in is living in Canada  in Brantford, Ontario aged 23 occup. fitter.  He is a lodger or boarder.  How can I confirm that this is my Joseph????? On the 1861 census he appears to have a middle name of Masher or Mather (cant read) but have not had this confirmed.  Can anyone help please.  Thanks Jessy

Thank you both for your help.  I wonder if anyone is in a position to check Ontario census to see if the Joseph Ogle in 1881 has a middle name of mather.  Can you advice how I should go about doing that????  Jess

Hi again,

If you go to www.automatedgenealogy.com you can view the 1901 and 1911 Ontario Census for free.  Joseph Ogle is there in Brantford, and in 1911, his brother, Charles Ernest Ogle was born in 1864 in Montreal, Quebec.  Charles died in 1931 in Brantford and his parents are listed as William Ogle and Maria as well.

Marriage Reg. For

William Ogle & Maria Stevens
Oct/Nov/Dec 1847, Aston, Warwickshire

Hi Karen,  Long time since I spoke to you.  In March this year you were a great help with Mary Ogle and Arthur Weatherby. We had a very very hot topic and you went to the library for me. (remember)  Well unfortunately this is not my Joseph Ogle but thanks for trying.  Mine was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. his parents were George and Susanna.
I cant find him after 1881 and thought that this Joseph was him but obviously not.  Thanks for all your help,  I will keep looking for him.  Regards Jessy

Hi Jessy,

Yes, I remember, that was a great thread!  Any luck on finding your fellow in Geelong yet??

I figured this Joseph wasn't yours, but I thought I would post the information so that you would know for sure you could rule the Joseph in Brantford out completly.

Karen
