Any info out there on Christine Macdonald who married a John Sutherland about 1820-30 maybe in Latheron.They had a son Hugh

The 1841 Census entry for what looks like their family may provide you with some clues. Ultimately, you might have to view Christina's (Christy/Christian etc...!) death cert to confirm who her parents were, assuming she lived beyond 1855.

From 1841, living at Miltown, Reay, you have all showing as born in Caithness:

John, 40
Christian, 40
John, 10
Christian, 10
Elizabeth, 5
William, 4
Anne, 3,
Barbara, 2
Hugh, 11mths

Also showing in the household are Elizabeth Sutherland, 75 (mother of John?) and Elizabeth McDonald, 50 (a sister to Christina?).

The family show in the 1851 Census on FreeCen. Christina is showing as McDonald which helps firm up the family from 1841. She is down as age 41 and born in Reay.  The family are living in Brims, Thurso where John age 50 looks to have been born.

For 1861, the family still living in Thurso have moved to Hills of Forrs. Ages as always on censuses move around a bit!

With these dates, you should be able to find Christina's death cert on Scotlands People.

Monica, how do you do it?
All the stuff makes sense then I found some old notes of a Monumental inscription i got at Olrig, Castletown a number of years ago and it made some things a lot clearer.Will now follow up your other clues.

Looked at all the cencuses and got some info.many thanks but still have lots to do on the Sutherlands
My mother was a Clyne and my Father Sutherland
