Vital Record Databases Links listed are:

California Birth Records, 1905-1995 andCalifornia Death Records, 1940-1997. The source information for both of these is the California Department of Health Services Office of Health Information and Research Vital Statistics Section.

Illinois Deaths, 1916-1950. Added to Illinois State Archives Web site in May 2002.

Illinois Marriages, 1763-1900. A continuing project of the Illinois State Archives.

Indiana State Marriage Index. This database includes Indiana marriages up to 1850 and is maintained by the Indiana State Library.

Indiana Naturalization Database. Provided by the Indiana State Archives, this database is a statewide index of pre-1951 naturalizations.

Kentucky Vital Records Index. Maintained by the University of Kentucky, it indexes death records (1911-1992), marriages (1973-1993) and divorces (1973-1993).

Maine Vital Records. Marriages (1892-1966, 1976-1996) and deaths (1960-1996) are indexed by the Maine State Archives.

Massachusetts Death Records, 1841-1910. From the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. 

Michigan Death Records, 1867-1882. The Michigan Department of Public Health created this database and periodically updates it.


Minnesota Birth Index, 1900-1907. From the Minnesota Historical Society.

Minnesota Death Index, 1908-1996. The Minnesota Historical Society created this database of death certificates.

Missouri Birth and Death Indexes. The Missouri Secretary of State's office has created pre-1910 birth and death indexes, and a death certificate database that covers the years 1910-1955. The death certificate databases includes full digital images of some death certificates.

Ohio Death Records, 1913-1937. An index maintained by the Ohio Historical Society.

South Dakota Pre-1900 Birth Index. Includes over 86,000 records.

Utah Death Certificate Index (1904-1956) includes digital images of certificates.
