Just a quick note to say that Ancestry as indexed the 1851 Canada census and it's free until November 15, 2006.

It should be noted that this census is not complete - as some schedules have not survived.  Canada at that point consisted only of Canada East/West (Quebec/Ontario), New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  The schedules for each of the areas were also different, as each were colonies still of the British Empire.
