foxton cotton farm/mill.
« on: Monday 06 November 06 12:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi helpers...

I would like to know if there any one knows of William Foxton who owns Cotton farm or mills early 1800 in Canada... he had some sons and his suppose younger son George Foxton miss out his share of the farm then he left home and came out to Australia and married after 1854...till his death in 1912

I would like to know where about in Canada that he lived and born in 1831... or was it in USA?

cheers from Kathleen.... ;D

Hi Kathleen,

Well, I don't think we've ever had cotton farming in Canada  ???  Sounds more like you need to be looking in the southeastern US?

On 1851 census...There's a William Foxton, born 1792 Ireland..In Elizabethtown, Leeds Ontario....there's no doubt that if one made it big as a farmer one could have afforded to invest in cotton mills, but even the ones that he owned could also have been in the U.S. or Canada...Might be better to find more information other than occupation....J.J.

sorry son George is 6 so he's out a lot in age if you have proof of birth age....

Hi Karen I really dont know all I know from what my father told me about Foxton...  from Canada...with cotton farm but on his death certificate showns America 53 years ? bad number print  or could be 63   he died here in Australia in 1912... at 81 years  so I am not sure but I see on family history site has some from UK and Ireland but none as his birth date there as well  as his birth in 1831 not in record ... so I found his is hard one to trace.

he suppose to be the younger son but thats all I know off  cheers  Kathleen..

hi, Kathleen.,
Sorry, am I missing something?...Did he live in America for 53 years? The initial query says moved to Oz & married 1854.. .You have a marriage cert that says
that? Just wondering if we can clarify as my mind spins as it is  ::) Luckily the
head  doesn't rotate with it  ;D  J.J.
