I'm back Sassie Cat. Thought I would try for any marriages. Cut off point on marriages in 1937. Only three have married by then. I notice Muruiel is now a Moran. Cut off point for births is 1928 so none available for these marriages. I will try to pop in to the library tomorrow and see what deaths I can spot up to the cut off point of 1972.

For James Moran, Father of James Christopher Charles Moran Sr. Is there anyway to find out more on him? his age? place/country of birth etc? a wife?. .... You said you dont have census? Was there another system in place to keep track of households?

At this stage we do not even know that James was ever in SA. All we know is that James Christopher Charles listed his father as James at the time of both marriages. There were James Moran's in SA but can't tell if they connect. There is one having children at the right time but as he has a son James Andrew in 1886 I doubt that is him. Another had a James in 1894 so another unlikely. No. 3 had a daughter in 1887 so possible if they arrived with young James. The other thing of course is perhaps your James Christopher Charles Moran came as an adult.

James Christopher Charles Moran died in 1941 therefore his death certificate will list his place of birth and his length of time in the Commonwealth. That should help you find his arrival, although for the period I suspect we will be looking at, I doubt it will be online. You should see if there is by chance an entry in the BISA also. Not everyone is listed of course. Although on par with IGI submitted entries, it can often head you in the right direction. I don't have it sorry......Kris  :D

In the 1903 Post office Directory there is:-
MORAN James, Engine Driver of Langham Place, Portland.  This is in the Pt Adelaide area.

Nothing else to make a definate connection with your James MORAN.
Regards, Sashar
