Red Gap in Bawntaaffe

I just learned that all my Louth ancestors were born in Red Gap, Bawntaaffe, Montaserboice. One of them once stated on an official document that he came from Tinure in the parish of Mullary in Monasterboice. I know Tinure and Red Gap are roughly in the same area, but can someone please tell me how close they are to each other? I wonder why he said he came from Tinure when he was actually from Red Gap?
