What county was Clapham part of in the 1880s? Looking for a specific address -- 39 Westbury Street in 1887.

Thanks.

Westbury Street does still exist - it is quite close to Queens Road Battersea railway station.  I've no idea why it is not indexed on streetmap.  If you search for Portslade Road only two options available - chose the one in London SW8.  Westbury Street is right under the arrow pointing to Portslade Road.

If you search the Booth Archive of maps:

http://booth.lse.ac.uk/

and look in the books themselves as well as the maps, there is a brief mention of the road.  It is was quite a poor area at that time.

Little Nell -

Thanks for the information and web site.

My gg grandparents were living at that address on Westbury Street. I assumed Westbury Street wasn't the best of areas due to what I have found out.

Again thanks for your reply.
