please help me

hi
I am trying to help a few on the list with look ups but my program will only let me save in word how can i send large numbers of info without having to keep e mailing it please use simple words as i am thick

Hi Audrey

If I have your query correct
1. you look up information in a program
2. You save the looked up information in a word document

If you wish to include this information in a roots chat reply

1. Open the word document and select (highlight) the information you want to include in the reply
2. Copy (use right click of mouse on selected text & then select copy)
3. Go to your roots chat reply window - right click and select paste. You can then edit/change or add to this information in your reply

PS  If there is a very large amount of information, an email attachment is perhaps the best method to transfer same. (If SUPER large - a download from a web site is the only method I know about - and I have not a clue how to set up same)

thanks for that i will give it a go I think you right though about large files I think I should just stick to the way I am doing it as its working ok not very good using a comp I am ok with simple stuff

With Word documents, you can also save as "text files" (in Word, go to FILE, then SAVE AS, then on the drop down list select "Text File .txt") and you can attach text files to RootsChat messages (click on "Additional Options").

PS Somebody may want to correct me on this, because I don't have MS Word on this computer

You are correct Trystan, although there is a choice of Rich Text or Plain Text.  Which one can be attached to Rootschat messages?

Just text not rich text.

Basically you can attatch: txt, jpg, jpeg, gif, pdf, mpg, png, ged
