Thomas Lording - Lydd Lookups
« on: Tuesday 05 December 06 20:05 GMT (UK) »
Can someone please put me in the right direction for the following:

I have been able to trace my family back to the late 1600's all in the area of Lydd, Kent.

Can anyone put me in the right direction to find any additional information on the family?

The earliest information I have is the following:

Thomas Lording born 1664, Lydd, Kent and died 1709 Lydd, Kent
married
Mary Munns born c1665 and died 25/12/1719 in Lydd, Kent

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

 ;)

Have a look at Maureen Rawson's site

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mrawson/

It mentions a few LORDING wills (you may have found these already).  Wills can be full of information.

There are also some LORDING familes on the Kent Archaeological Society site

http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsLydd/MIsLydd.htm

some of the memorials are very informative.

Hi,

I've also gotten stuck in a rut when it comes to venturing back further in my family tree beyond Thomas Lording (1663-1709). I know you posted this in 2006 but i was wondering if you were able to find out anything about Thomas' parents at all?

Best Wishes  :)

The Kent Family History Society's latest CD-ROM has early Lydd parish records (baptisms 1542-1699 &
1802-1918, marriages 1542-1940, burials 1540-1542,1570-1578 & 1662-1914).

Look for similar surnames like LORDEN.
