ancestry 1871 somerset coverage
« on: Wednesday 17 November 04 21:08 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if the Ancestry coverage of the 1871 census for Somerset is complete? For examle, when I click on Glastonbury, only 1 enumeration district is listed - enumeration district no 6.

Thanks

Debbie.

Hi,

I compared Ancestry to the 1861 census.  On the 1861 there are 5 enumeration districts for Glastonbury.  There are other hamlets which fall into the Glastonbury registrar's subdistrict, but  a comparison of a few of these show them listed as separate enumeration districts on Ancestry, eg Meare and Butleigh.

So my guess is that Ancestry have the complete county of Somerset for the 1871.
