1841/1851 Census Lookup Please - PORRITT

CAN ANYONE LOCATE JANE PORRITT BORN C 1780 OF BURNISTON, SCARBOROUGH ON 1841 OR 1851 CENSUS?? I BELIEVE FAMILY MAY HAVE MOVED TO HECKMONDWIKE OR LIVERSEDGE WEST YORKSHIRE IN 1830'S. THEY ORIGINALLY CAME FROM SCARBOROUGH AREA.

ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

No I don't have any further details. I believe she may be widowed by 1851.

My GGG grandfather was born in Burniston but married in 1830 in Liversedge, West Yorkshire.  I can find no trace of his birth/baptism or his parents/siblings.

I was contacted by someone on another website who has similar ancestors to me and she told me about Jane Porritt on 1851 census living in Heckmondwike but born Burniston.  I cannot find the entry searching ancestry.co.uk.

Hi,

The entry on ancestry is transcribed as Jane Porrett, born c1782, in Brunslow, the ref is:
H0107/2323, Folio 411, Page 37.

Jane is a widow and a schoolmistress.  I will try and find her on the 1841.

Many thanks for that. I have just had a look at the census page and I think it says Burniston on the actual transcript.

I cannot find her on the 1871 census but I have found a death in 1859 so I will send for the death certificate.

If you could find her on the 1841 census that would be fantastic as it might give husbands name.

The one Isobelruss has posted looks favourite to me, there are others on the 1841, but they can be found in 1851, except one, but she is listed as 65, so a little older than your Jane and she is living on her own, so there are no clues to be got anyway
The death cert, will hopefully have under the occupation "widow of ??" and will help you in your quest.

Many thanks to all who have helped me so far.

I have made contact with a relative of Francis Porritt born c1775 via Genes Reunited and discovered he did not die until 1862 so it would seem the entry for the 1841 census is not the right one. Either that or Jane was not a widow at 1851 census.

I am really stuck on this one and any further help or advice would be appreciated.
