Thank u aghadowey - would never have thought of that if I had not have been doing this type of thing for the last 15 years! I have studied the name Loughrey and its variations for a many number of years.  The spelling does depend greatly on where a family originated as I am sure u know.  Looking at the spelling first mentioned and the location by minnie it was not remiss of me to indicate there may be some connection.
Moore, Loughrey, Mullins, Dare, Seward, Pitman, Bromfield. Ciss, Rutkovskis, Newell, Draper, Stapelton, Greene.

And I've been doing research in Northern Ireland even longer than you but know that minnie is new to this  :)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Edward Lochrie was my Great Grandfather. He married Janet Hamilton in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. His son William, married Martha Bell who was from Ballymena. William and Martha had 5 children. I have only just started with my family history, so i am sorry i cannot help you any further. Good luck with your search.
