Hello, my late Grandad Edward Curran from Salford, Lancs served on HMS Byard.  He was Merchant Navy working in engineering and returned his fair share of lease-lend boats to the US.  He once told me he got into a fight in a bar in New York after returning a boat.  The fight was over the rough treatment a black chap was receiving in the bar.  Grandad lamped someone in the chaps defence.  Good old Grandad. 😊
