Hi ,I have just joined this site and am unsure how to use it so forgive me.Thomas Holt is my2nd cousin x3 removed .My mother was a Holt .My ancestors were watchmakers in Coventry. They moved to London to work on Big Ben. The Holts that stayed in Coventry prospered and Joseph Holt became Mayor. The ones that moved to London were out of work once Big Ben was finished and had to go into other trades. They married into another family of watchmakers named Warbis.
I have Thomas on 1851 census living at 17 Hart St Middlesex.I will search for 1871 and get back to you
Regards Colleen

To Leanylawton (Colleen) and to Shipwright my humble and sincere apologies.  I spotted these messages late last night (Tasmanian time) and as there is no sign of a reply from me I don't think that I ever saw them.  Completely my fault as I must have missed the notification from the Roots Chat folk. I shall write to you personally, if I may.
Cheers
Dave Wallace
