hello Geoff... we are clearly tracing the same CROSS integrated tree with the list of surnames that you started with here.

Ong, Scott, Bartle, Hotley and Feast are all names linked with the Cross family (although from the above, i only know Feast to be connected to Ong).

My website explains more: www.familytreeuk.co.uk

Hi Andrew,

We are obviously "cousins" of some sort.

My CROSS lines in Oz start with the arrival of Phillip & Sarah's son Ephraim & his wife Fanny nee FOREMAN.

They arrived in 1856.

I'll send you a personal message.

Cheers
Geoff

Geoff,
very interested in your Munns & Moxon connections. My hubbies side of the family (my mother-in-law actually) has a whole heap of Munns in her tree, from a place called Little Berkhampstead. One of the Munns (Joesph Munns) married a Jane Moxon. Can you give me any info on your Munns/Moxons so I can see if there is a link?
Most appreciated...... :)

Hi Jools,

My MOXON connection comes from the marriage of John FOREMAN to Mary MOXON the daughter of Samuel MOXON.
At this stage I think Mary was baptised 1805 at Haddenham.
This couple had 4 children, 3 boys & 1 Girl.
The girl was Fanny FOREMAN my gg grandmother.

John Foreman died young in 1841. then Mary remarried.

Downham Parish
14th Mar 1845
John Turner STAFF, full age,  Bachelor, Labourer of Downham, father =Henry STAFF, labourer

Mary FOREMAN, Full age widow of Downham,
father= Samuel MOXON labourer.
Both signed with an X.
Witnesses were James COX & Susan FISHER.

The MUNNS connection comes from the marriage of Thomas MUNNS {b c 1795} to Lucy THURLOW{b 1797} in 1820 at Holy Trinity, Ely.
Their daughter {illegitimate} Julia b 1818 and registered as Julia THURLOW, married George CROSS 1842 at Holy Trinity, Ely. Julia had 4 siblings that I know of 2 girls Mary{b1821}& Maria{b 1827} & 2 boys Thomas{b 1833} & Edward {b 1835}
Julia, George and their family were one of the CROSS families that emigrated to Australia.
I have copies of letters that Julia sent back to England and she mentions grandmother Munns a lot during her writtings.

Cheers
Geoff

Hi,

My ELY connection is BREEZE.

Just a general info (apologies to those who already know this):

ELY was sometimes in Cambridge, sometimes in Norfolk, so be prepared to look in Norfolk, too !

Two useful sites:
Wisbech and the Fenlands at http://contueor.com/wisbech/

The Fenlands page has a map showing the Parishes & Chapelries that covered by this website, with links to pages showing the resources that can be found on the internet, microfilms and etc.

The Indexes page has various indexes of parish registers, census and etc. Now with over 25000 name entries

The Transcripts page has various Transcriptions of Tombstones, Census, plus other information Transcribed for the Wisbech area.

The Links to other Genealogical websites for the Wisbech region and the counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire
.

The Norfolk Transcription Archives at http://www.genealogy.doun.org/transcriptions/index.php

This site has surname lists, which are also useful for considering variation in spelling
Not so much Ely data, but still worth a browse !
