Elizabeth Jenkins
« on: Friday 12 January 07 13:09 GMT (UK) »
I know that this is probably a long shot, but I am looking for any information on an Elizabeth Jenkins. According to the 1881 census, she was born c1810 in Cardigan Town, although another census, possibly lists her birthplace as Bredenmark, but I can't find this on a map, so am not sure whereabouts it is.

She married in 1832 in Lambeth.

Any help would be fantastic.

do you have the census ref for her with pob as Bredenmark? Could try for a second opinion ?

Her married name was Stowell, but her husband died in 1848, the reference that I have for 1851, lists her with a step father and her name as Powel, living in Westminster, the ref is Ho107 1479 679 p11

that looks more like Brecknock to me - alternative for Breconshire. Her step-father's pob is S. Wales, Radnorshire. OK, Radnorshire isn't north, but I wouldn't call it south. So perhaps these pobs aren't to be trusted.

Thanks for that. There is no guarantee that the 1851 ref is correct, but it was the closest we could find. The ref in 1881, which states her pob as Cardigan Town is the right one, as she is living with her daughter Catheine.
