Look up deaths for Amelia and Albert Edward Bottom
« on: Monday 22 January 07 13:03 GMT (UK) »
Amelia Pykett born 10th November 1880 Ayston, Rutland, married Albert Edward Bottom 17th September 1907 Ayston, Rutland.  Albert was born 1883 (don't know where) Don't know if there were any children - can we look up 1911 census or is this not permitted yet?

Thank you for any help - would appreciate any guidance you can give.

Regards
Maeabbie

Hi Maeabbie,

Unfortunately, the 1911 census is not viewable yet ...

If you want to look up the death indexes, it's free at ancestry.co.uk

Have you have managed to register with them now?  ???

The marriage cert would give Albert's father's name, then that will help you find him as a child in 1891 and 1901 censuses, which in turn should give a place of birth for him.

Re children of the Bottom/Pykett marriage, the birth indexes are free to search on ancestry - choose the full version. rom 1911 they will give the maiden name of the childes mother, so if you go through systematically quarter by quarter you should easily pick out the children from the marriage. If the area is consistant, then with this unusaul name you should also find likely candidates for the years of the marriage pre 1911.

Re deaths. Again death indexes are free on Ancestry. I know it will take a while, but I cant imagine there are many Amelia Bottom's around, especially as you have an exact age for her, so it would be worth going through the death indexes quarter by quarter till you found her. can look for Albert Edward Botttom at the smae time. At present you know they were both alive in early 1914 (birth of Charles) but you may narrow the possible years further if you find later children.

Happy hunting! That's what family history research is all about - bit so worth it when you find them and it finally all fits together!

Hi Maeabbie, I have found alot of history of the Bottom Family from Rutland here:

If you are researching this line, I'd be interested in exchanging information.

A bit late in the day I know, but have found two deaths in Bromsgrove Worcs which seem to fit.

Ref 9d p135 Albert Edward Bottom 3rd  qtr 1971 b 15/8/1883 and

Ref 9D p9    Amelia Bottom            3rd qtr 1964 aged 83, so born abt 1881
Don't know if you know of a Bromsgrove Worcester connection but these seem quite a possibility.

Can go back further with the family if you haven't already done so. They seem to be in Ashwell Rutland where Albert Edward was born back to at least 1766.
Happy hunting.
