it is situated in a secluded , peaceful,  albeit eery location
[/b]

It certainly is eerie - my great, great grandfather is buried there, as well as his father-in-law and a few other family members.  I found the arched canopy of trees leading up the cemetery from the Forgewood end very unnerving - especially as it made me think about how many ancestors have travelled that very route.  It didn't help that I heard a noise behind me and turned round to find two huge deer about 30 ft up the path!

I believe that the Globe name came from the long defunct Iron Works nearby.

It is now very dilapidated - I have a couple of general pictures that I'll post tonight if I can find them.

Best wishes

It's a start and will hopefully shame the council into tidying up the rest!

There's not much wrong with Frankie Roy, his granny lived in the Daisy Park, so he will know the Globe cemetery well. It has been vandalised to within an inch in the past, so I really think it's a waste of time putting up new memorials.
There used to be a HUGE polished granite monument to the Colville family down there, it spanned about 5 lairs and it is now nowhere to be seen. Someone will have a very fancy marble fireplace and matching coffee table I expect.
The only thing that will stop the vandals is an electric fence!
As for Dalziel burial ground - I had no idea it had moved to Netherton!
