Birth Look up please John Gosbee

Dear Everyone at Roots Chat
John Gosbee was my Husband's G G Grandfather. He married Rebecca Willis on May 4 1854. He was born in Stone in Oxney . I am trying to find his parents. On the Marriage Certificate his father is William Gosbee. As there are one or two Williams I am not sure who is the right one. I do know he died in 1908 at the age of 84. So if anyone can find his birth I would be very grateful.

               All it says on the certificate is that he was a laborer. There is a James Gosbee as a witness.

I think you need the parish registers to try and find the baptism of John GOSBEE to establish what it says there ........................ just in case he is the John listed on the 1841 census already found on the other thread.

I don't know whether you've seen the Kent Archaeological Society website.  The are a couple of GOSBEE entries for the parish of Stone in Oxney

The KAS has a great website.

There a couple of mentions of GOSBEE field and land in Stone in Oxney which I presume must have some connection with the family you are researching although there are no GOSBEES listed as living there at the time.
