My HAYNES family from Cork
« on: Sunday 04 February 07 09:03 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I hope you can start me off on a new thread of my Irish family history.
My g-g-g-grandparents John Joseph HAYNES and Margaret DALEY were married in about 1840 in Cork.  I don't know where in Cork, but the information in the family is that the Hayneses came from the townland of Inchigaggin which I believe is near to Ballincollig and Carrigrohane to the west of Cork city.

Can anyone point me to, or even look at for me  ;) , any records of marriages from that time?  Christenings and earlier marriages too would be really good (not that I ask for much!)

Many thanks in advance.  Cork research is very new to me so I would appreciate your help.

Cheers
Prue

Hello Prue/
There is no Inchigaggin. Do you mean Inchigeelagh if so it is a townland and civil Parish in West Cork.

Ballincollig is a Townland in East Cork and carrigrohane civil Parish East Cork.

Hi Lep  :)

Thanks for your reply.  The information I have is that the townland associated with my Haynes family is Inchigaggin.  I found the following page online which locates a house called Inchigaggin House in a townland called Inchigaggin, which seems to encompass Carrigrohane.

Does this help at all?

Now all I need is someone who is going to the NLI to look at the records for me  ;) ;D  Looks like, from the info you posted, they have the years I'm interested in which is good.

Cheers!

Inchigaggin is a very small towland area to the West of Cork, close to Carrigrohane and to Ballincollig.  The River Lee runs close by and it is a picturesque area.

I can't see that there would be a link between the Parish of St Finbarr's South and this area as they are some distance from each other, but I may be misunderstanding something.

Possibly the Parish Church which serves Clogheen and Kerry Pike.  Hope this link works

or Ballincollig
