Hi

NFHS marriage CD:

Edwin Shaw & Mary Ann Gregory 25.1.1858 Radford St Peters

Pleasant Row still exists in Hyson Green and I attach a modern map from Multimap and a copy of a 19th century map of the area. Pleasant Row is near the junction of Gregory Boulevard and Radford Road.

Thanks Jane
That is really good.  I had already found Pleasant Row on the modern day map as I have other relatives on the Richards side also living there. My ancestors Thomas Shaw & Betsy nee Richards came to Australia in the 1850s.  Now I find each had a brother living in Pleasant Row in 1871. The street seems to come up quite often as one of Betsy's sisters died in 1843 and Pleasant Row was given as the address then also but the family wasn't there in 1841 or 1851 as far as I know. I suppose I should track all siblings in 1851 in case they were subletting to other family members. They all seem to be involved in the lace making industry and I notice the factory was close by.

I am very grateful to you for giving me the copy of the map from the 19th century which shows the neighbourhood as it was when they lived there.

Best Wishes
Carmel

Hi Brix 1961

I took the photo of the map at the archives as I have a relative that lived on Sheratons Row, Hyson Green which is very close to Pleasant Row.
